A special "Scalabrini Year"

On November 9, 2022, it will be 25 years since the beatification of Bishop Giovanni Battista Scalabrini. Therefore, in the coming months, we will celebrate a special "Scalabrini Year."

An advocate is needed, an intercessor, yes, a father for the people who today, in order to survive, knock on the doors of the richest countries, for those who are held at borders, for those who have lived for years in a foreign country and are accepted only as labor potential and
not as human beings.
Motivation is needed, a vision carried by hope, support for those who today are committed to migrants and refugees, so that they may be welcomed, protected, promoted, and integrated.
So we are pleased that in the coming months we may celebrate a "Scalabrini Year" and on November 9, 2022, the 25th anniversary of his beatification.
On this occasion, a letter was written by the leaders of the three institutes of consecrated life of the Scalabrini family. It states:

This year we want to "intensify our prayer and our initiatives so that Blessed G.B. Scalabrini may be canonized - to the glory of God and to make known the witness of a missionary bishop.
He was and is a voice for those who have no voice, help for those in need, inspiration for all who want to give their lives to Christ and become companions to migrants, refugees, and seafarers."

The motto of the year was chosen from Bishop Scalabrini's words: "To make the world a home for mankind." A highly relevant topic.

Prayer for the Intercession
of Blessed Giovanni Battista Scalabrini

O Blessed Giovanni Battista Scalabrini,
with the heart of a bishop
and the zeal of an apostle
you gave yourself completely to all.
You heard the cry of migrants,
raised your voice in their name
and defended their rights.
The Eucharist was your support,
the Cross of Jesus your refuge,
Mary, Mother of the Church, your comfort.
Through your intercession
may God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit,
grant peace to all humanity,
may He protect all those who, carried by hope,
cross seas and borders,
may He bless us and our loved ones
and grant us the grace
that we confidently implore through you.
